Place is to Space

My research this year has focused on psychogeography and its value in the world. Place, space and time are terms that open an enquiry of the change in human emotion through spatial experiences.

Through the act of walking, as a process, I have generated a way to engage myself and my position in the city, and to also consider how the city in turn affects me. As a result, my observations of the city and my emotional state enabled me to generate a new way of looking.

Using analogue photography and writing, these devices act as a way to experience and capture the city. They were put back into different places in the city as an investigation of spatial relationships.

My aim has been to break away from the traditional roles of photography and investigate the quality of what a photograph does when it is relocated back into its original site.
