AN OVERVIEW | three-channel installation with audio, drum kit, egg | 12 min 30 sec (looped).

Starting with humour as a framework, I began creating short videos, producing them as skits for communicating small and self-contained ideas. The project THIRTY ONE DAYS OF ANXIETY played a key role in forming my self-reflexive methodology for making videos. This project involved creating a video a day, often made in urgency with overriding themes such as anticlimax, comedic timing and the frustrations of art making.

Next, I expanded my project’s scope, both with duration and consideration for how the installation affects the video content. I learnt how peripheral elements such as screen height and objects such as chairs, can affect the reading of a video work. This final work, AN OVERVIEW is an attempt to recount the lessons I have learnt this year. It expands on the short skits at the outset of the year, admitting to a sense of regret, uncertainty and a complete lack of finality.
