After Nature, Follow Where the Rain Goes.
Non-human Agent, Object and our Immediate Environment
This project examines the cultural processes involved in the conceptualisation and aestheticisation of ‘nature’ and the different belief systems that question human-centric views of the world.
Seeking ways to de-link from the progressive line of modernity, I try to give power back to objects and spaces. I give thought to the consideration of objects and spaces as possessing spirits, to motivate us to care more for our immediate environment. Paying attention to the literal space we inhabit and observing what is in front of us pulls us to the present time of ‘now'.
Being aware of, and working with, the immediate environment of ‘over here’ may be the key to returning the power to where it belongs.
My studio research is a site-specific project concerning the ‘here and now’ of the present time and space.
