My practice has been the observation of movement and the contour shapes of leaves in nature.
Instead of taking a pragmatic approach to the subject matter I have chosen to simplify leaves into a modern and abstract approach.
Qualities of my art work include carrying the beauty within these leaves yet keeping the essence of nature dormant.
As beauty is in the eye of the beholder, finding aesthetic pleasure only from my own peculiar ways has been a journey of its own.
From the three-dimensional flora, nature illustrates shadows from the interference of light; illuminated onto a surface, shadows are created from layers of penumbra which subsequently became my inspirational elements, orchestrated into visual drawings in various forms.
Through the method of portraying every aspect of my thought process, the decision was made to use diverse drawing materials; each medium conveying a unique perception of its own.
