Whiteness • Blankness • Restraint
The use of strokes and lines are the primary methods of expression for Korean traditional monochrome paintings. I have chosen conventional methods, materials and natural elements for my abstract painting in order to focus on natural processing through traditional means, including traditional nature and spirituality.
In my painting, the empty white spaces represent the work of thought and interpretation, and fill part of the space that is also work with thought and interpretation. These spaces allow the painting to stand as a unique aesthetic phenomenon. In terms of the technique, a traditional method of my painting is to classify all the natural elements on the part of host and guests to reach the balance of the composition.
