Far Away in Images of Elsewhere
“To the question "Where am I?", the map answers, "You are nothing".”
Among all its definitions, the map is an allegorical mechanism that organizes and compensates the limitations of perception and simplifies abstract concepts for experiencing a momentary sense of familiarity within the unknown but also gives a lesson of humility. Claiming imaginary landscapes imply a peregrination in search of a 'Far Away' that constantly expands its boundaries to remain distant. Thus, mapping becomes a way of traveling without moving from a physical place. Speculative somewheres that are traversed by foundations, dead-ends, flows and pulsations become accessible through the wandering nature of our attention.
