They Cut My Monologue
Coming from a background in acting, I have been unpacking my complex ideas of the meaning of feminism and reclaiming my femininity in the pursuit of how my practice and has been shaped by my experiences and identity. Influenced by my experience with being an actress and my love for films, I use storytelling to address topics of feminism and misogyny. For this project, I have let my interest in fashion and textiles drive my me. I have gone even further into exploring the issues of my self-identity through the lens of the male gaze, gender politics, misogyny, feminism, and femininity. With a focus on screen-printing, I have chosen images that express the most emotion to the viewer, as my own emotions are complex. I have a background in acting in film and stage, and fashion. I merge my two interests to formulate my multi-disciplinary practice. I work predominantly in photography, textiles, performance and printmaking.
