Desolation tries to colonise you
“When you see beauty in desolation, it changes something inside of you. Desolation tries to colonise you”
Caitlin Merriman's artistic practice is primarily drawing-based, with a focus on the line and its expressive capacities, extending into printmaking and multimedia paintings.
Desolation tries to colonise you is an exploration of the strangeness that is being human during a widespread ecological tipping point. Her abstract watercolours draw viewers into complex and uncanny natural worlds, inviting them to consider the vital power of our environment, and explore how fictive elements can expand our understanding of both reality and our place in it.
